How to colour your clothes!

How to colour your clothes!

Do you have an old top, jeans or a dress that looks sad because it’s your favourite and you washed it one too many times? Or are you one of those people (Like myself) who always want to change something on the original design? Let’s face it! Sometimes the designers just don’t get that we don’t want our clothes to be baby pink or buttery yellow. Especially not if you want to wear it New Years Eve.

I’m going to colour one of the tops I designed for my exam at TEKO. It’s white and the print is smeared. Not pretty!

I’m getting to the point! You can colour it yourself – it’s easy!

You need:
“Dylon” fabric colour. (Which can be bought at Matas).
Salt (500 kilograms).

-          Wash the item you want to colour. This is to prevent stains later on. (The item can’t weigh more than 600kilograms).
-          Put the colour powder into your washing machine and on top of that sprinkle with salt!
-          After that, you put the item into your washing machine. And start a program on at least 40 degrees.
-          When the washing program is done, you run another program to remove excess colour.

Now there are only two things left: Run a program on your washing machine without any clothes in it – to avoid stains on the clothes you wash in the future.
And… let your coloured item dry. (Not in a tumble dryer)

Voila! You have a perfect piece of clothes… in the colour of you choice.
